100 Examples of Simple Sentences in English

English is the world’s most popular language and the preferred language of business communication. Statistics¹ show that over 1.35 billion people speak English, either as a native or a second-language speaker. After all, it is the official language in 55 countries worldwide. So, whether you are a freelancer, entrepreneur, or business owner, learning English should be a priority. Let’s start by understanding syntax and learning simple sentences.

What Is a Simple Sentence?

A simple sentence is a sentence that conveys a single idea. It is composed of a minimal number of syntax elements: a subject (the one carrying the action) and a verb (the action). Of course, you can add other elements (adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, etc.) to enrich the communication, but for now, let’s focus on a subject and a verb. We highlighted the subject in green and the verb phrase in red to make things easier for you.

Like in any language, the action has a time of occurrence. It can happen now, in the present, in the past, or in the future. Our simple sentences follow English grammar and provide examples for all English tenses.
